Mothers Day

I am very excited for mothers day weekend, because I get to go with my Great Grandma (who is 99), my Grandma, my Aunt and maybe my cousin, also my grandma's little Scottish Terrier. All in 1 car for 8 hours. When we get to Spokane we will go pick my mom up from the Airport. We will then go to my Great Aunts house for dinner. Since it is going to be a FULL house we will go rent a hotel room. Then on the official day of Mothers Day we will give gifts. Im not sure what I will get my mom, but i think she will love anything.

Dali Lama

Yesterday, (Monday April-15-2008) I wentand saw the Dali Lama with a group of students from my school, a total of probably 20 students went. I am REALLY glad I went because it was a inpirational experience. One thing that I heard on the radio however, is that some parents didnt want their kids going because they thought that their child would be pushed into becoming Buddist. That however is simply NOT true, in fact the Dali Lama brought up that you dont have to be of a certain religion to belive in compassion and in changing your and otheres world. In this show there was also Indian dancing and singing and the indians idea of copassion. Also there was inspirational speakers and poets. I am really glad I went to learn how to sew the seeds of compassion.

Birthday/Easter

This weekend I am going to have lots of fun. I am going to have fun because today is my Aunt's birthday, and we will be celebrating on sunday (Easter). We are going to celebrate it by going to a resteraunt called "Gordons" for brunch. We had to make reservations almost a week in advance, since everybody will be getting out of church at that time. Unfortunately it is kind of expencive (30$ per person), but since it is a buffet it is understandible. I plan on not eatting the night before, so I can eat a lot when I get there. After brunch we are going back to my aunt's house for cake and presents. I got her a candle since she likes candles.

8th grade project poem

8th grade project,
Oh 8th grade project,
You do annoy me so,
I wish I could deploy you so far,
That away you would go,
Your papers sit in my backpack,
I would rather have a heart attack from a Big Mac then even bother to look at you,
The teachers think that your so great,
As I sit here and procrastinate,
8th grade project,
Oh 8th grade project,
You cant be good for me,
You take up my T.V. time,
That isnt a good thing,
Sometimes I wonder why they assigned you,
But then I remember they say its something to put behind you,
8th grade project,
Oh 8th grade project,
I am so glad you are done,
Now I can sit here and soak up the sun!

Orthodontist

Today I am going to the orthodontist. I am going to the orthodontist because my 2 front teeth are a little crooked, and I have a little bit of an underbite. I must admit I am a little scared.

Today I am also welcoming a reporter to my school to ake pictures of the Penny Drive I am participating in.

Last weekend my mom came up to my house from her house in Idaho. (To say "hi" to all of the family). This weekend I am going to have to fly down there, I am excited to go down there!

Interveiwing

Last week I talked about going to a meeting for the drug coalition meeting. Well this week I went to another one and they told us that we could break out onto our own and could start interviewing people on our own. So the following post is all about the interviews I will be doing.

Today at S.S.R I am going to have to go around the school and pluck students from their classes to do an interview with them. I will be asking them 23 questions, and the questions aren't easy. Some of the questions are "Do you feel adults lie to you about drugs and alcohol?" "Does school teach how to deal with peer pressure?" As you can see this questions are not easy and are all about dealing with drugs and alcohol. I am doing this project with a handful of other kids, and are school counselor Sarie. I think what the school is hoping to get out of this interviewing is to see how much kids really know about what is going on!

Meeting

Today I went to meeting on how to elminate drugs and alcolhol at my school. This is a group of adults who meet weekly and discuss how to resolve this problem that they are faced with. Once a month they ask a handful of miidle schoolers, and a handful of Highschoolers to discuss the problem at hand. I am hoping that the veiws and discussions that we made will change the way that kids in general look at drugs and alcolhol. I hop that I taught the adults a little about what goes on at my school.
